Colour Story - ‘Viola Davis’ - Winter
Going forward with a colour analysis and learning how to dress for your features is a sure way to present with your best foot forward. In this blog post I we will be highlighting the wardrobe of award wining actress Viola Davis, an excellent example of top tier styling and dressing within your palette.

The stylist responsible for Viola Davis is Elizabeth Stewart. Elizabeth has a great understanding of colours, and of what looks best on each of her clients. Also stylist to Cate Blanchett, Amanda Seyfried, Julia Roberts to name a few, these stars are always dressed within their seasons when working with Stewart.
I have identified Viola Davis as a winter, this conclusion is supported by the looks and colours she is frequently pictured in. Winters are best complimented by colours that are sharp, stark and clear. White, black, navy blue, red and shocking pink all go well with winter complexions. When dressing, winters should choose rich, vibrant tones for their looks and think in terms of cool or blue based, clear or pure colours as well as dark, bright and icy with contrast.
Understanding your Winter colour palette
Winter colouring is all about striking contrast which is reflected in the winter colour palette. The difference between summer and winter palettes is the intensity of the colour. While both palettes are cool, winter colours are deep and intense, while summer colours are more laid back and muted. Winters can wear bright and vibrant colours, but need to make sure they are still cool colours and don’t encroach on the warmer bright colours of spring - that would make an unattractive look for a winter!
Winters should avoid colours that could fall flat and not accentuate their features. Additionally Winters should accent with richer, brighter, more vibrant colours. Pops of cool clear colours work really well with the winter palette and harmoniously accentuates their best features.
